Chic Notebook/Laptop Bags

27 07 2009

I’ve often found myself in search of the perfect notebook bag.  It had to be chic, yet durable enough to house one of my most prized possessions, my MacBook!  There are a lot of designers out there that are designing for the sophisticated techie, while allowing our notebooks to become a fashionable accessory.  A few notable designers are Steve Madden, Betsy Johnson, Coach, and of course Louis Vuitton.  Aside from having a stylish bag, it must also be affordable.

What’s most important to me when choosing that “oh so special” bag, is that the bag is unique and stands out from the traditional notebook case.  It can’t be the standard black and it mustn’t look anything like a briefcase OR your baby’s diaper bag!  It also needs to have various size compartments and a built in notebook sleeve with extra protection in the compartment that’ll actually house my notebook.  The bag also needs to have a comfortable padded strap.  There’s nothing worse than having to carry both your handbag and a notebook and have both (or one of) the straps digging into your shoulder like a second bra strap!

Anyhoo, I’ve seen many bags that will foot the bill, but I can only carry so many.  I personally have two bags that I’ve grown quite fond of, one by Isaac Mizrahi and the other by Liz Claiborne.  Therefore, I thought it’d be fun to periodically feature a bag and let you decide for yourselves.  If you have a favorite bag you’d like featured (or would suggest I try for myself ;) ); then leave a comment for me to follow-up on.  Enjoy!

Gregory Allen Howard: The Biggest Loser

19 01 2009

This article gave me some semblance of justice regarding a particular fraud and individual who’s ungrateful for his past and who chooses to ignore the realities of the Civil Rights movement and EVERYTHING it has done for him.

My personal comments about this article are quoted below the post’s link.

Gregory Allen Howard: The Biggest Loser.

Thank you!

I’m not a proponent of tearing someone else down; however, I do feel some sense of justice when they’re exposed for what they are. It is not my place to judge someone or to go to sleep every night waiting for karma to wreak havoc on their lives… God has EVERYTHING in His hands and will take care of every situation without me worrying about it!

Your post, on the other hand, made my heart beat with excitement as I continued to read your every word! I was in high school when the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill story came out during his confirmation hearings and I wasn’t pleased with him then. As a teenager I could sense that this man was full of himself and wasn’t a trustworthy individual. I feel as though God gave me the spirit of discernment and when my initial feeling is to be weary of a particular individual or situation; then I do as I’m told and keep my distance!

You, my sir, have done us a great justice in posting this article and documenting (in plain English) what we’ve known for years; there are frauds amongst us… Even in the highest places of justice! We can’t do anything about his position; as it’s a lifetime post, but we must continue to pray that he is always corralled and kept in his own little confine so that he doesn’t disparage anyone else. Again, thank you for this enlightening post and God Bless!

Where is your Mr or Mrs Right?

7 01 2009

I’ve often joked with friends (both married and single) that you need an indepth dossier on someone before you date them.  There’s so much going on/around/underground nowadays with people; that you can’t be too careful when dating someone new.  Well, one lady took it one step further; she’s created a website 52weekstofindhim.com to receive applications from interested suiters.

Her name is Neenah Pickett and she’s been featured on numerous national talk and news shows discussing her approach to finding her “Mr. Right”.  I heard about her site by listening to the Tom Joyner Morning Show (TJMS) yesterday and thought it’d be interesting to post for those who haven’t heard.  I can’t say I agree with this method; but to each his/her own!  Nowadays it doesn’t matter where you meet someone.  If they’re a nut; they’re a nut and nuts are EVERYWHERE!

Would you date someone you met online?  Leave a comment or two.

When Barney Fife Rears “Her” Ugly Little Head

Barney Fife

Converse at your own risk!

This blog post hit home, because it could have easily been me!  A woman on Twitter called the police on another woman from Twitter because of a sarcastic post she made about one of her children!

One of my biggest pet peeves is when others don’t understand or attempt to follow-up on email/blogging/instant messaging etiquette.  There is a “rule” to written electronic communication of which many people have no clue.  Instead, they take everything they read as the full gospel with no room for interpretation and run with the information as if their butts were on fire.

If it hasn’t happened to you; then you just keep on typing!  One day somebody’s going to approach you with their panties in a bunch because they misinterpreted your correspondence!  We should all be thankful that a “true” Barney Fife isn’t standing by with his/her finger on the trigger; trying to corral everyone they thought were committing an offense; or else we’d ALL be dead!
