This is so sad! I thought Michael Jackson and ‘Lil Kim (Kimberly Jones) were the only ones adamant enough to do this! Evidently, skin bleaching (primarily among women) in Senegal is becoming a huge “fashion” trend all across Africa. Fair skinned women are viewed as more attractive by Senegalese men, and women are doing whatever it takes to appease them.
This trend is not only happening in Senegal, but all across the African continent. Men are even known to bleach their skin; but not as much (or likely) as women. That’s primarily because skin bleaching among men is seen as a homosexual trait; which is punishable by imprisonment (a whole other issue). Read the article by clicking the link below for details.
