BlackBerry 8520 w/Navigation Trackpad
Yes, you read it correctly, “BlackBerry Loses It’s [one] Ball”! The NEWEST BlackBerry smartphone is set for release by T-Mobile in August as the first of it’s kind without the ubiquitous trackball.
The new BlackBerry Curve 8520 will don the new trackpad navigation in place of the trackball. This new feature will have the same functionality as a laptop trackpad. The trackball was known to attract “gunk”, so this feature will sacrifice undesirable debris for ease of use.
The handset resembles the current BlackBerry Curve models (minus the trackball) in form, weight, size, and standard BlackBerry features. The camera has been downgraded to 2 MP, but this will be marketed as the “more affordable” model with a $130 price tag! The 8520 will initially launch in two colors (black and a silvery blue) and will also be Mac Compatible out of the box. WOO HOO!
Meander over to BlackBerry’s website for more on their newest smartphone.

I’m not too sure how I feel about the track pad. I think I would have to mess around with it first. The trackball is so great, I dont know how it would be without it.
I think you’re in the majority on this one James! Until everyone gets use to the new BB trackpad; you’ll instinctively be prepared to move about the handset with the trackball. With new technology comes change. Hopefully this modification won’t invoke a rage in users demanding the trackball be returned to its rightful place among new BB models!
What has the world come to?!
Margaux, it seems as if BlackBerry is attempting to diversify their smartphones and not create ONE image that users will grow too accustomed to. Their products will be easier to redefine if they change it up more frequently than not!
